Modern Kitchen Design and Construction

It is said that we spend 3 - 4 years of our lifetime in the kitchen. Some of us enjoy spending most of our time cooking and find peace in the kitchen.

The most popular kitchen designs all include open plan area's; central kitchen islands with wash basins and gas stove tops are very popular.

We recommend the following ways to save on new kitchen costs.

1. Use existing kitchen cupboard carcasses if possible. If the sides of your cupboards that are visible and dated, then why not add side panels to cover those visible areas with your new kitchen design finishes.

2. You could use the existing kitchen cupboard doors if possible. Get kitchen cupboards resprayed or remove the existing PVC wrapping with the use of a heat gun and manual labor. Sand them and spray them with a quality kitchen cupboard paint. We can recommend various kitchen cupboard paints you can use, either spray it on (best finish) or just use a sponge paint roller tp apply it with light even coats.

3. Add light shields and LED lighting to add that modern kitchen lighting. Adding LED light strips with either white or RGB colors and the right amount of lux in the correct places, accentuating your kitchen design and increasing the value of your home even further.

4. Kitchen sinks and taps can be re-used if they're removed properly. Note there should be brackets securing them to the counter top.

5. Need new Counter Tops on a very small budget; try using roof trusses; glue them together with a sash clamp or rope; sand the tops level and stain them for the cheapest route to a new counter top finish. Many have also used large tiles on top of existing counter tops to give a granite look.
